I find it really difficult to drink much more than two glasses of water a day, I'm either not that thirsty or much prefer tea. Can you tell me why is it so important to drink lots of water and what effect will it have on my weight loss?
Well I’m glad to say I have good news for you - the 6-8 glasses or cups of fluid a day that are recommended don’t have to be made up of just water. Fortunately, teas, coffees, soft drinks and fruit juice (but not alcoholic drinks) count as well.
Also be reassured that the recommendation for fluid intake is not something you have to follow slavishly. If you’re fit and healthy you can rely on your sense of thirst to tell you when you need to drink. Your urine is a good guide too - it should be a pale straw colour. I hope this helps to reassure you that you don’t need to drink more water than you don’t want too! Also bear in mint that fruit and veg are often over 90 per cent water, so if you’re eating loads you will need less additional fluid.
Water doesn’t really have an effect on your weight loss, but it may help you feel slightly fuller and by not being dehydrated you can prevent the possibility of thirst being confused with hunger.
