Hi there I wonder if you could take a look at my food diary and tell me where I am going wrong. I am truthful when filling the diary in, I weigh everything. I was prescribed Orlistat in September and re-registered here in October. In the first two weeks I lost 5.5 pounds, I have been weighed today and have put 1lb back on. Due to my arthritis and other medical issues I do not do much exercise, although I do walk a lot. Should I reduce my target? Many Thanks
Hi there,
Thanks for your email and information on your weight loss.
Looking at your food diary, and your weight loss to date, there is nothing that jumps out to say that you're doing anything wrong. On the whole you follow a healthy diet, with plenty of fruit and veg, and you are usually within your calorie allowance.
As you lost 5.5lbs in the first 2 weeks, and assuming that this week hasn't been any different food wise, I would suggest that the 1lb gain is probably just a blip. At this stage I wouldn't recommend reducing your calorie allowance because you have lost weight in previous weeks. Although you can't exercise, you mentioned that you walk a lot which is great - make sure when you walk that you do it as energetically as you can - this can really help to kickstart weight loss.
My suggestion is that you continue doing as you are - weighing everything, sticking to your allowance, walking as much as you can etc, and see what next weeks weigh in brings. If you gain again, or aren't happy with your weight loss please do come back to me and I'll have another look to see whether there is anything else I can suggest at this stage.
Best of luck
Janet
