A friend of mine has told me that she's on a diet where she has some days where she has no meat keeps proteins to a minimum and other days where carbs are banned. On all days, fruit and veg are allowed. The theory is that it makes the metabolism only deal with one of these food groups which she says is better and helps the diet. Is this true? Or just another fad that doesn't really work or only encourages weight gain at the end?
The other point is that though this may work for your friend, overall the balance of her diet is likely to be out on a regimen such as this as we?re supposed to get more of our calories every day from carbs than we do from protein. The healthy balance for a diet is to fill two thirds of you plate with carbohydrate foods, fruit and veg and to have smaller amount of protein and dairy although still two good portions a day of each. I hope this helps.
