Hi, I hope you can help I eat an average of a 1000 calories a day, and had been losing both weight and inches but over the last few weeks things have slowed to a standstill on my weight. I am exercising too, but the only advice my gp gives me is to eat less.... I have both insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome which doesn't help.....I am really determined but feeling very down about the progress stopping at the moment..... Please help !!
I can understand you feeling down, but you have done wonderfully well so far and that determination has clearly stood you in good stead. Losing weight against the background of insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome is hard and you can be proud of what you have achieved so far. Eating less than 1000 calorie really won't help in my opinion, and could be counterproductive as you'll be so hungry you could easily go astray.
You have probably just reached a natural plateau which can sometime last several weeks, and the key thing here is to stay focussed on how much weight you have lost already and trying to keep things stable. If you can do this, it is in itself is a great achievement.
Try to look after and pamper yourself with little treats. Your attitude now is extremely important, and could make the difference between success and failure. The good news is that the very act of losing weight will help to address your insulin resistance problem so that in the future the weight should start to come off more easily.
