Hi I'm having trouble keeping on the straight and narrow! I'm absolutely fine and dedicated when work is under control, but the minute I have a deadline and have to work 12-14 hour days, 7 days a week, my diet is the first thing to suffer and I just grab whatever! I work for myself from home so sometimes when a deadline is due working through the weekend is not uncommon. What can I do?
Hi,
I think a lot of people will relate to this question and that you are not alone in reacting to stress and pressure in this way. The good thing is that you recognise this pattern, which means that you well on the way to taking control.
I would like you to think about what you are eating another way. What your body is actually doing is a making you eat more to provide the energy, which will keep you going under pressure to meet those deadlines. So, the first thing I would suggest is that rather than viewing these cravings negatively and trying to fight them, view it as a positive thing that is really important in helping you meet your deadlines. Then you need to make sure that you have lots of nutritious, low calorie food around you that will keep your energy levels up and keep you feeling satisfied as you work through the weekend.
This way you should emerge at the other end proud of your work achievement and not feeling guilt ridden about what you have eaten! I hope this has helped.
