Hi, I work 13:00 - 21:00 and tend to have my break for dinner around 18:30 - 19:00, is this too late in the day? I have read so many articles telling people to avoid eating after certain times. Also whilst I try to avoid it, I can become hungry and need a small snack when I get home around 21:30 - 22:00. Again is this too late and something I should try to avoid completely? Thanks
Hi there,
Thanks for your question. Whilst I don’t think it is a good idea to eat a large meal too late in the day and go to bed before it is fully digested, I think the time you are talking about is fine around 19.00. Especially as you are continuing to work for some of the evening, where you will need energy and which will burn off some of the calories.
And if you are hungry when you get in, I can see nothing wrong with a small, healthy snack, as long as you account for it in your food diary. It is better to keep your blood sugar levels up, than let them drop too low by getting really hungry. That is often when we make the wrong food choices and tend to eat too much because we are really hungry. And I don’t know about you, but I can’t sleep if I am hungry, so a small snack may help you sleep better too!
