I started my weight loss in April this year and within the first 3 months lost a stone, but recently I've slowed my weight loss and in the last 3 months have lost 5lb, and maintained in the last 4 weeks. I started off at 17 stone 3lb and I'm now 15 stone 12lb.
I'm not always in the green every week but at the most I go over by 800 calories in the red for the whole week and I can be up to 1,000 calories in the green. which would suggest I'd still lose weight as I'm still eating less than I was at the beginning of the year. I was wondering if I'm possibly eating too much in the way of carbohydrates. Is there a daily amount (weight wise or otherwise) that you should eat or cut down to, to help with weight loss? I have lost another inch around my waist and hips though so maybe that's why? I just think there could be a reason I'm not shifting the weight so easily as at the start.
Could you offer any advice to get things moving again. Thank You in advance.
As long as the carbs you are choosing are largely healthy types such as whole grain pasta, rice, and bread, pulses, porridge, breakfast cereals and potatoes, then you shouldn't worry. In fact the Food Standards Agency encourages us to eat more of these types of carbohydrates and to base our meals on them. You only need to watch if you are eating excessive portion sizes, or having lots of sugary refined products. Diabetics and people with conditions such as PCOS may also need to moderate their carb intake, and I sometimes recommend this for apple shapes (big waists, relatively smaller hips) as well.
On the whole though it sounds like you are doing nothing wrong. If you haven?t already done so you should redo your profile with your new weight and see if we recommend fewer calories for you yet. As you lose weight you need fewer calories to fuel your body. Try to always balance any ?red? days with ones when you are in calorie credit and remember to keep up your exercise. Everything combined together should ensure the weight starts to come off again, but probably more slowly. Unfortunately slower weight loss is something to expect as you get closer towards your goal. Stick at it and you will be rewarded though!
