How much weight have you lost and how long did it take?

I have lost just under 10st, and it took me almost exactly 2 years.

What prompted your decision to lose weight?

I have always been overweight and was tired of it, tired of struggling with everything. My son has ASD and he needs a mum who can keep up with him and stick around as long as possible. He was my main motivator.

How did you hear about Nutracheck?

I looked on the App Store for a simple calorie tracker. I have found other ones before that made it too complicated. The less barriers you have the more likely you'll succeed so I took my time looking for the right tools.

Has your weight stayed fairly consistent over the years, or have you always had to manage it?

I've just always been overweight, sometimes a little and on a couple of occasions a lot. I've always been at least been 2-5 stone over weight even as a child.

Have you experienced any health improvements?

Yes, I had irregular periods and physical pains for as long as I can remember, as soon as I lost a few stone all my complications either eased up or vanished completely.

How easy was it to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?

It's not easy but it's worth it. I had to change my habits completely but they are second nature to me now. Making sure I move throughout the day and not saying yes to every treat/craving have been the biggest things I've implemented and still do now.

What was the most difficult thing?

Feeling like you're missing out, the truth is you're not. You're gaining a lot more than you are taking away. Don't let every party, get together or day out be an excuse to give up, you need to figure out a way to still have those things but stay on track.

How do you feel now compared to before?

Like a different person. I can move with ease, I can predict how I am going to feel hormonally which I couldn't before as everything was irregular. I feel confident when I'm out and don't dread shopping.

Any notable milestones to report?

When I hit 100lbs lost I got a tattoo to commemorate my achievement.

What 3 tips would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?

  1. Be honest with yourself, if you aren't honest about your struggles or behaviours your changes won't last.
  2. Perfection isn't key, consistency is. One bad day doesn't undo everything you've done.
  3. Don't be impatient. When you have a lot to lose it can feel daunting but remember every pound you lose will improve your health and mental wellbeing.
